Jie Tian Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Chief Scientist & Professor

Molecular Imaging; Artificial Intelligence

Jie Tian is the chief scientist of Key Laboratory of Molecular Imaging at Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests are in optical multimodality molecular imaging technology development and artificial intelligence (AI) in radiomics. He integrated optical scattering tomography (OST, including bioluminescence tomography, fluorescence molecular tomography, and Cerenkov luminescence tomography), positron emission tomography, and X-ray computed tomography into one animal scanning system for in vivo visualization of multiple biochemical events at the cellular and molecular level. He firstly applied AI strategy for high-quality reconstruction of OST images in 2018. He facilitated the clinical translation and promotion of intraoperative near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging technology and published the first clinical study of using NIR-II fluorescence imaging for navigating liver cancer surgery in 2020. He developed medical image oriented AI methods for radiomics studies and widely applied them to solve a variety of clinical challenges. Tian is the author of over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles, including publications in Journal of Clinical Oncology, Annals of Oncology, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Gut, PNAS, Opitca, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, and many other journals, and these articles received over 35,700 Google Scholar citations (H-index 92). He has more than 100 granted patents in China and six patents in the United States. He is the editor of six academic books, and two of them, Molecular Imaging Fundamentals and ApplicationsMulti-modality Neuroimaging Study on Neurobiological Mechanisms of Acupuncture, are sold online for over 68,000 and 3,100 times, respectively. Tian serves as the editorial board member of European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular ImagingEuropean RadiologyIEEE Transactions on Biomedical EngineeringIEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health InformaticsEBioMedicine, and Photoacoustics. He was elected as the Fellow of AAAS, ISMRM, AIMBE, IEEE, OSA, SPIE, IAMBE,WMIS and IAPR.
